Eagles depart for CHAN January 7

Nigeria will jet out of the country on January 7 to South Africa where they will make their debut appearance at the African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The home based lads have been training hard under the watchful eyes of Stephen Keshi for about three weeks and have engaging in some warm up matches to put the team into the right shape.

Before departure to the Rainbow country, they will play two warm-up games against a Port Harcourt Selected XI and league champions Kano Pillars.

Chigozie Agbim, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Solomon Kwambe and Benjamin Francis are expected to make the final 23-man squad set to be released by the national team handlers in a few days.

Star midfielder Sunday Mba is expected to be dropped from the squad after deciding on a move to Bastia in France. 

Nigeria are drawn in Group A that parades hosts South Africa, Mali and Mozambique. Keshi’s men will play their opening Group A game against Mali on January 11 in Cape Town.
